FMCSA Adjusts Hours of Service
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, FMCSA has issued an emergency declaration providing “targeted, limited relief” from Hours of Service. This means that drivers are relieved from Hours of Service requirements when transporting the following categories of supplies:
- Medical supplies and equipment related to testing, diagnosis and treatment
- Supplies and equipment necessary for community safety, sanitation and prevention of community transmission
- Food for emergency restocking of shelves
- Equipment, supplies and persons necessary to establish and manage temporary housing, quarantine and isolation facilities
- Persons designated by Federal, State or local authorities for medical, isolation or quarantine purposes
- Persons necessary to provide other medical or emergency services
