PORTLAND, OR – On behalf of TEC Equipment, David Thompson, President and CEO, and his sons, David O., Chris, and William, announce their commitment to create a new scholarship for College of Business students at Oregon State University. The Ann E. and David A. Thompson Family Scholarship was announced on October 20, at the OSU annual College of Business Scholarship luncheon, Impact at Work.

As Mitzi M. Montoya, PhD, the Sara Hart Kimball Dean of the College of Business, noted, “This new scholarship will profoundly change the lives of recipients who, with limited financial resources, struggle to make the most of their potential.” She described this scholarship as “among the most significant and comprehensive scholarships the college offers.”

The Thompson’s will support two, four-year College of Business scholarships, covering the cost of attendance, including support for experiential learning, professional, and leadership development.

David Thompson and his family have been active contributors in the areas of education, health, and human services for many years. “My family and I consider it a privilege, and an important social responsibility, to be able to share our success with those in need who could use a helping hand. My sons, David, Chris, and William, all benefited from an outstanding education at OSU’s College of Business and this is a special opportunity for us to give back,” Thompson said.

The Ann E. and David A. Thompson Family Scholarship is open to Portland-area freshmen and community college transfer students with at least a 3.5 GPA who exhibit leadership ability, work ethic, and a drive to succeed and overcome challenges. Students must apply by February 1, 2018.
